Conventional 2D and 3D biomaterial-based differentiation of PSC to MSCs. 2D systems generally involve repeated culturing of PSCs in dishes coated with ECM proteins such as gelatin, collagen, fibronectin, and fibrin. 3D systems, by contrast, involve the formation of embryonic bodies (cell spheroids), attachment on coated dishes, and collection of cell outgrowths (MSCs).
