Evaluation of the control release of antimicrobial from composite biomaterial. Quantitation of imidazolium PIM45 and PIM45-vinyl derivatives that was released/eluted in PBS over (A) 5 × 1 h cycles, (B) 5 × 1 day cycles. Quantitation was carried out using spectrophotometric assay based on calibration curves that were generated from the parent PIM45-vinyl compound (Fig. S2). The eluted compound in solution (C) and the composite material post elution of antimicrobial compound was subjected antimicrobial assay (D) against S. aureus. * denotes zero (0) CFU on the agar plate for undiluted samples
